In this video, Shaan discusses seven conditions that are often misdiagnosed as anxiety by doctors. These conditions include digestive issues, fibromyalgia, thyroid problems, POTS, long COVID, chronic fatigue syndrome, and PPPD. He emphasizes the complexity and nuance in distinguishing these conditions from anxiety, highlighting that they often fall under the umbrella of nervous system sensitization. Shaan shares his personal experiences and recovery journey, encouraging viewers to shift their mindset and understand the broader issue of nervous system sensitization rather than focusing solely on individual diagnoses. He also provides practical advice and resources for those on their recovery journey.

    I'm so glad I've seen this, 😮 but my thoracic back is also so very tight, and it spasms running all the way up to the top of my head. Diazepam doesn't really help it, unfortunately. The nausea for me is like nervous energy between my chest and gut and the feeling of malaise.

    My agoraphobia is centered around being outside my comfort zone or normal schedule/area and on my own. I go to work and can drive between my house and parents house, and go generally anywhere in my local area. However leaving my local town, especially if not part of my routine and especially if on my own fills me with anxiety. For example, i have today off work, its a nice day. I thought it would be nice to go for a drive somewhere, go for a walk perhaps. It fills me with dread giving somewhere on my own, not part of my usual routine, for fear of having an anxiety attack on my own. I am not diagnosed, but mainly because i dont like doctors.

    I always fear about my health. I am underweight no matter how much i eat i never gain weight i was healthy back then but now due to depression and anxiety i have been losing myself. I have trouble remembering things. I often experience panic attack. I always have my heart beat more than 100. Even though it may be notmal but seeing the bp machine i just start fearing what the result might come and hence it comes with what i had thought of, heart palpitations occurs. My brain is my enemy it just forces me to think about things that may never happen. I always have scary thoughts about dying or having an illness or my limbs will stop working and i will have to cut it off. I dont know why i fear so much. I have lost every feeling within myself i just fear cancer and many more diseases. I can't stay calm I am always tensed and worried about it. I can't see my future i feel like there is only darkness ahead of me. I cant seem to understand anyone. People judge me for how i look but they never try to understand what i have been feeling. I cannot tell anyone my family blames me as if i am always playing the victim card but even if once they understood what i have been going through all these years i might not have suicidal thoughts everyday.

    I was doing alot of chores around the house and went to carry my daughter to bed and my heartbstarts skipping over and over for about 5-10 mins. It was beating super hard and fast. When I sat down to check my blood pressure the left arm was 126/76 Pulse 91 then the right arm about 2 mins later it was 124/72 Pulse 86. I'm 5'10 150 lbs. I tried to cough and even do the hold breath vagus nerve trick and my heart skipping and fast beating. It was super scary. I started breathing deep it stopped. For those 5-15 mins from start to finish I thought I was gonna have a heart attack. Can anyone please provide feedback? If I'm feeling OK after the palpitation episode is that a good sign? I'm so scared. Just a FYI I had drunk some iced tea and ate some fried chicken a few hours before this. Please help?!

  • @rockstarr2.025
    @rockstarr2.025 День тому

    If you have POTS that's not related to Anxiety then it's not a nervous system sensitisation issue. Then it's a cardiac issue where your blood pressure doesn't rise enough due to the blood vessels not contracting enough.

    • @ChadCilli
      @ChadCilli День тому

      FWIW, there’s a good bit of evidence and research suggesting POTS is a form of TMS like fibromyalgia and PPPD. So anxiety likely plays a large role in it.

      @@ChadCilli no no no, i dont mean to sound rude. Thats not my point at all. I mean that POTS is a very understood condition. Aloot of people like for example Shaan think it can be related to anxiety. However as a medical student myself its not only related to anxiety. You can develop pots because your nervous system stops understand you're standing up. That in return causes very very low blood pressure when standing up which again in return causes that spike in heart rate. And the thing with POTS is people think that patients with POTS only feel rubbish when standing up. However if you were to ask someone with POTS how he feels during the day most of the time he would answer you that even when he isn't standing up he usually feels ill or extremely you know bad.

      @@rockstarr2.025I follow what you’re saying. I would think there is more than one cause. Something like IBS has multiple causes. For some people, it might be stress/anxiety, others it could be a food sensitivity, and others it could be an unfavorable gut microbiome. I think many of these chronic conditions have multiple causes.

      This video is phenomenal! At the beginning of my journey. I found multiple channels as well as Miguel's and thought I had CFS. When I fell asleep I woke up with panic attacks, palpitations, and extreme fatigue. I couldn't move, get out of bed, or keep my eyes open. My body was numb. It felt like I was fighting back into reality. I found your channel bought the blueprint and realized it months ago. All the symptoms I'm feeling CFS, HPA Axis Dysfunction, and POTS, are all the same just different terminology for the same issue of anxiety. You calling it a desensitization of the nervous system, is a better term. In my opinion, doctors calling it anxiety seems to trivialize, the physical aspect of the disorder as just being "anxious". It is all in your head. Those who have recovered in the UA-cam community are ahead of most doctors and psychiatrists in explaining this disorder. Most will be put on medication without understanding the mechanics of why. Hopefully, in the future, there will be a change. Until then keep doing this amazing work! Thanks for bringing clarity to this disorder.
